Purpose: Health, Micro-enterprises, Rural Development,

Aim/Objective/Mission: HOPE was started in 1989 by the
students of Claretian Seminary to work against the growing
menace of drug addiction and alcoholism in the colleges
and schools. The vision was to create healthy atmosphere
in the schools and colleges by providing alternative interest
areas and to provide good awareness about the ill effects
of substance abuse. Main areas of work were survey and
research, awareness and education, value building exercises,
documentation, training of addiction workers, etc. did
field surveys in all the south Indian states, conducted
hundreds of awareness programmes, developed a good library,
created socially and medically trained personnel and organised
a national youth convention these were the main achievements.
In 1999, started a full-fledged treatment centre at Belgaum
called Home Recovery Centre with facility to offer treatment
for 30 persons at a time. |
