Aim/Objective/Mission: PlaNet Finance India is part of
PlaNet Finance network, an international NGO focusing
on empowering the microfinance sector worldwide to eradicate
poverty and promote entrepreneurship. To achieve this
objective, PlaNet Finance uses extensively Information
Technologies and the Internet. PlaNet Finance works as
a global microfinance platform for Microfinance Institutions
(MFIs) associated with a series of tools aiming at: Enhancing
their professionalism through :
Reducing the digital divide
connecting MFIs to the rest of the world
providing them with computers, creating Web sites and
hosting under PlaNet Ring, developing specific IT training
Transferring knowledge and building capacity of microfinance
practitioners
training through an online university dedicated to microfinance
and information technology, a virtual library, information
sharing and training activities in the field Facilitating
their funding through
Increasing transparency of the sector through independent
evaluation and rating of the financial performance of
MFIs with PlaNet Finance’s GIRAFE rating methodology
- readily usable by donors, investment funds and other
multilateral institutions seeking to finance MFIs Increasing
funding dedicated to MFIs and micro-entrepreneurs via
PlaNet Finance Revolving Credit Fund, an international
debt fund helping young MFIs to build their own credit
history.
