Aim/Objective/Mission: The Catalyst Trust was formed in
Chennai in 1997 to further good governance through research,
education, fieldwork etc., and any other object of public
utility but not involving any activity for profit. It
is non-political and non-sectarian, and seeks to focus
on issues of common concern. The main objectives of the
trust are: 1. To endeavour to achieve and consolidate
the commanding position of the public in general, in the
system of governance of the state. 2. To create a non-governmental
institution and forum through which the grievances of
the public would be addressed to the government and redress
obtained. 3. To make all efforts to protect and promote
public interest and satisfaction and make the public aware
of their rights and strengths through education, seminars,
and training programmes. 4. To work with the government
and with all elected representatives to evolve solutions
to the various civic, economic, cultural and social problems
faced by members of the public or any class of people.
5. To carry out relevant research especially in social
sciences. 6. To secure the effective use of the legal
process to remedy public grievances. 7. To seek improvement
inter alia in the areas of public health and safety, public
utilities, primary education, public distribution, and
all public related services and the environment. 8. To
educate, to create and mobilise public opinion wherever
necessary. |
