Purpose: Human Rights, Law, Media, Sustainable Development,
Women's issues
Aim/Objective/Mission: UNIFEM was established as an innovative
and catalytic fund for women's empowerment and gender
equality. It promotes the economic and political empowerment
of women as well as their human rights, in developing
countries. It works to ensure the participation of women
in all levels of development planning and practice. It
also acts as a catalyst within the UN system for efforts
to link the needs and concerns of women to all critical
issues on national, regional and global agendas. Playing
a role of a strong advocacy, UNIFEM, concentrates on fostering
a multilateral policy dialogue on women's empowerment. |
